About Head In The Sand

Head In The Sand is many things - but at its root is this community of musicians based in Winnipeg, Canada. We are a group of friends, playing in each-other's bands, helping each other out, and having a great time making music.

We are also a record label. Not all of the artists on this site are part of the label, being at various stages of their career. Head In The Sand Records is run by musician/producer Mike Petkau and is distributed in Canada by Universal via Sonic Unyon.

We are also a studio production house. Mike is a producer and WCMA-nominated recording engineer, and has been making records under the Head In The Sand Productions banner for 6 years. He has recorded albums for Paper Moon, Twilight Hotel, Mahogany Frog, Todd Hunter, Ian LaRue & The Condor, and many more.
